t56 pops out of 3rd gear??
so i recently purchased a 98 z28
for some reason itll pop out of 3rd sometimes as i release the clutch.
sometimes it makes a really violent pop, or grinds really bad as it slides out.
i have no idea why it does this and is really starting to annoy me.
also, under WOT the clutch will stick to the floor and not release till i pump it up a few times.
i just replaced the master, and bled the system well.
any ideas?
all help is appreciated
thanks

If the car has an aftermarket shifter with adjustable stops, adjust them all the way out. A stop that is adjusted in to far can cause the exact issue you have.
Otherwise, the engagement teeth on 3rd gear and the 3rd gear syncro may be worn to the point that is doesn't hold itself in gear on occasion...especially when just shifting into gear or if the car is decelerating in third gear with the clutch engaged.
The keys in the syncro could be broken which would add to the problem, but if there are then you would likely experience a grind when shifting into 3rd or 4th, especially during an aggressive shift.
Let me know if you decide you need a rebuild, we have our t56 packages here:

As for the clutch issues, one of our adjustable masters may help or even solve the problem for the time being, but a new/better performance clutch may be the real fix.
A pedal that sticks to the floor is usually a result of extremely overheated hydraulic fluid...which is usually caused by a slightly slipping clutch.

it did it with the factory shifter as well. so i dont think its my hurst.
it never grinds even at WOT but pops out from time to time.
it only does it on certain days, but when it does it once, it does it all day.
then others, its fine.
John: Ive been told that its the slave?
im currently building a lq4 so ill be having the trans build to withstand 600whp
i have a very lightly used clutch that i plan on installing when i do the slave just to get me by till i can afford to finish the build.
after that ill be getting with you about my trans, and clutch.
ive been told that a the ls style t56 can withstand about 600hp.
is that true?
im defiantly gonna have the trans beefed up a bit when i have it rebuilt, but how far do i need to go?
thanks for all your help
