Scraping sound after 5k rpm Hey guys i just purchased a 97 6 speed vette and when im at wot i get a scraping sound kind of like nails on a chalkboard coming from the shifter area near the clutch. I searched the forums and came up with nothing that is similar to the noise my car is making. Im guessing i need a clutch? It just seems weird because the car shifts smoothly. No slipping or anything.

It only happens at high rpms when im wide open throttle. It kinda sounds like a scrape or plastic breaking slowly, or possibly rope breaking. its hard to explain the noise.
