I can't undertstand why there is no detailed, rational assesment of shifters in this forum. I want to know who makes the best shifter for these cars. I've had lots of Hurst stuff in the past and I doubt they are the best, so who is? What are the throws on stock. What is stock, stock SLP or stock GM? Everyone seems to have issues with 3rd/4th missed shifts, whose product solves the problem? Where do you buy shift *****,etc.? I have looked the market over pretty thoroughly and I can not find anything that stands out. I am sure some of members must have gone through this same nonsense. I just want a decent shifter and the factory SLP/Hurst one is definitely not living up to my expectations. Any help would be appreciated.

I recently purchased a MGW shifter. I was extremely pleased with the build quality of the part. Installation was straightforward, and I could not be happier with it. The length of the shift throw between it and my factory gm (non hurst) shifter is amazing. It makes the factory shifter feel like you are driving a old ton tow truck. Also the shifter due to its stiff centering spring makes 2-3 shifts a thing of beauty.

So true. I have a Hurst Billet Plus with a C5-R style delrin shift handle (not really a ****). Very happy with it.

This is like asking what oil is the best...I have stock hurst with ws6 store short throw stick and I like it better than my friend's MGW.

I like my Hurst billet plus. I think shifters are gonna be a personal choice as to what's "best".

I drove a 2012 GT500 over the weekend and it was one if the nicest shifters I've ever felt. I wish my Camaro felt like that. I just have the stock Hurst shifter and don't really like the feel of it. I've heard the MGW is a good shifter. I'd like to try one.

Stock
Stock with short stick
Hurst
Hurst with short stick
MGW

The hurst with short stick was very easy to shift and I liked it almost as much as the mgw. I have owned all these combos so I know by now.

If you have the hurst shifter thAt comes from the factory, buy a short stick. If not and you can get a good deal, buy MGW.

i have the pro 5.0 in my car with a hurst white cue ball shift ****. love the feel of this shifter, i have never missed a shift, i slam gear at 7k rpms. 3rd-4th is a breeze. stock mc also just have drill mod done.

I've got an MGW...quality piece. good feel, always know when its in gear which was not the case with my hurst.

the length of the MGW shift stick is too short for my taste which is odd since many folks love that aspect since it contributes to shorter throws. For me, i like my hands to spend as much time on the wheel as possible so i prefer a longer shifter so my hand is closer to the wheel. some will argue that with a taller shifter that the length of a given shift negates the hand travel to/from the wheel.

its a matter of preference really.

and because grass looks greener when i'm not standing on it...i still would like to try a pro 5.0 which is also a good shifter.

I have a B&M Rippershifter in my car w/ a Hurst Ball. I really like it. It is also adjustable. I don't really like it when the shifts are extremely short. I work at a Subaru dealership & drive some cars with SUPER short throws on the car & it just sucks. A lot of it is personal preference though. You just have to see what you like & what you don't like. In my opinion I believe that 2-3 shifts aren't a problem due to the shifter, it's an issue with the driver. Or just not properly engaging the clutch.
