Default Auto to Manual conversion

Can`t get this info in England (as usual!) so can you chaps help? I`m changing my auto gearbox behind my 2000LS1 to a manual (engine going into Ford Capri). However am I correct in saying that a normal chevy `box will not bolt straight up due to 0.400inch less of rear crank flange offset (what`s that?) and also a normal chevy bellhousing won`t fit due to subtle differences in the rear mounting surface of the block? One last thing, do flywheels come in two sizes, 13inches and 14.5inches?...........Thanks

If your able to get donor parts from a manual trans LS1 car you'll be fine.
As you state the standard chevy parts do have subtle differences.

That`s the trouble, getting LS1 transmissions over here is difficult. Do normal transmissions just not fit?
