Drop the tranny without the engine? Gto t56 in fbody?!?

Default Drop the tranny without the engine? Gto t56 in fbody?!?

Can i drop the tranny with the engine still in place?

If so how?

And can i fit a t56 from a gto into a t56 fbody without modifying anything

Yes but all i can find are engine AND tranny removal instruction vids.

Yes. Remove driveshaft. Unbolt torque arm from transmission, be careful as it will snap up towards the car. Remove shifter, unhook master cylinder line. Unbolt transmission from engine and lastly with a jack under trans crossmember remove crossmember bolts. Make sure you have everything unplugged also. Good luck it's actually pretty easy

Ok. One more question. Will a gto t56 fit in a f body with no
Modification? Why or why not?

Yes it will, but you are gonna have to change the "shifter cup" and also use a gto starter if you use the gto bellhousing.

You can see the "shifter cup" in post 21 here, and yes you can use your fbody bellhousing.

Thought the GTO tailshaft was different as well.

No....both gto and f-body t56s utilize a 27 spline output shaft
