Default Outrageous Dealership price?

So I had my Camaro towed and fixed, needed and alternator, and the shift forks for 5th and 6th were bent, or so they said, and the synchro gears were thus all but gone, and my total is $4480? Does that seem at all reasonable?

you would have been notified by law if the repair exceeded 1000 dollars. so obviously you blessed off on it. too late now.

OP

when you "point & pay" vs doing the R&R yourself, especially at a dealer, expect to pay high $

for example you could buy a alternator for $100 and if you pulled your tranny you could have it rebuilt for $1k (more if you needed "everything")from:

http://www.tickperformance.com/tick-...camaro-firebird/

dealers typically provide very detailed receipts noting what they did (or at least charged for). parts = $x, labor = $x???

Tranny parts can add up a lot. Add that with the dealer rate and could sound right.

Next time find a performance shop.

It should have cost you $2000, so the dealer price sounds about normal.

sounds like dealership pricing

Dealerships pretty much always overprice their things. Just contact a performance shop next time.

Goodluck.

Did you get a phone call from the service advisor prior to the repair? Did you approve the repair?
