m12 mainshaft and countershaft part pics
I looked around for pictures for how to assemble a m12 (gto, c5z) t56, but couldn't find any. So while putting together my second gto transmission (which started as a c5z) I decided to take a few with the parts laid out. No guarantees that I didn't forget a spacer, but this matched the first one I put together. Let me know if I forgot something or if pics of this stuff already exist.
Here's 3rd and the 3/4 synchro. The picture is missing the snap ring, but it should be obvious where that goes. I also forgot to move the fork out of the way. Remember to press the bearing on last since, unlike the mn6, you need to take it off (which may destroy it) to pull anything else off. There's a thick spacer that sits between 3rd gear blocker ring and 3rd gear.
Here it is assembled with the snap ring in place.
1st and 2nd along with the 1/2 synchro. Both needle bearings for the gears have spacers on them that face the synchro assembly. There's a rubber o-ring that goes over the large tapered bearing. My old 2nd gear bearing was yellow (timken?) and the new one is white (koyo). The yellow spacer is from the old bearing. 1st has a metal spacer which sits on the snap ring.
Countershaft extension with 5th and 6th plus 5/6 synchro. The 6th gear needle bearing has a spacer on both sides. One rests on the snap ring and one on the countershaft. It isn't obvious from the pic, but the snap ring goes on after the 4-piece 6th gear blocker ring.
