Luk LS7 vs Luk LS1 Replacement Clutch
Ok, I am forced to replace the slave so I might as well do the clutch too. (74k miles) My car is mostly stock with no real plans for major mods and is driven on nice days. The only thrashing it gets is running it through the gears every once in awhile.
Is there an advantage to replacing the stock unit with an LS7 type unit or no big difference? I am most likely going with the Luk clutch based on the budget I am working with unless someone chimes in and sways me for a good reason.
Thanks guys!

I do not think the LS1 clutch is sold anymore. It's an LS6 clutch. The LS7 is a very common option for folks that are bolt on or less and don't really beat on the car too much. (drag) If factory replacements were my options the LS7 all the way. The extra overhead compared to teh LS6 clutch is nice reassurance to have.

The LS7 clutch needs it's own unique flywheel. It won't just bolt up to a stock LS1 flywheel. So if you want to go with the LS7 clutch, you will have to get a matching flywheel, otherwise go with the LS6 clutch, which will bolt directly to your LS1 flywheel.

The standard Luk kit for our cars (LS6) will be more than fine for your needs. No need to fool with the LS7. Plus you may be able to get away with resurfacing your flywheel rather than buying a new one. In fact, if your car has been treated well, there may be another 50k in the stock clutch.

I just ordered LFW191 flywheel, and will be getting GM p/n 24255748 to go with it. That flywheel was just such a good deal I couldn't pass up, but I can get GM employee pricing on the pressureplate/clutchdisk, and it's more or less the same price as the LuK 04216 kit.
I already have all new GM bolts and LS1 slave to go with the install in a couple weeks.

if you haven't installed it yet go with a lightweight flywheel that matches up with the ls7 clutch , it is a heavy setup in stock form and f body hydraulics struggle to handle it , it will block you out of shifts at WOT , its also harder on the synchros meshing all the extra rotating mass

What are the part numbers for the LS6 and LS7?
I download their catalog and looked at Rockauto. 04-173 and 04-905 are the numbers I see. I can't find any info about LS6 or LS7.

The only thing spinning on the input shaft is the clutch disk. syncros dont care how heavy a pressure plate or flywheel weighs. and the hydraulics only care about the pressure from the pressure plate.
