With that rear I'd be happy enough with the 2.66 unless you really werent making much power.

But also depends on tyre size.

is this the regular Magnum or is the tail end modified? looks a bit different in the pic.. does the magnum need any modification to fit the 98-02 Camaro?

Dang, that would be nice to buy these directly from Tremec with the right tail housing.

They only made LS1 Fbodies for 5 years, but 2 models, plus the GTO and all the people swapping LS engines into v6 or LT1 4th gens, so there are plenty of potential customers out there.

Even in swap situations, like my 67 Firebird, I'd rather have the 4th gen tail housing and have the shifter further back than the regular Magnum.

I've been keeping an eye out for a cheap C6 MM6 TR-6060. A Magnum input shaft, front plate, main shaft, and modified 4th gen tail housing as the main things needed to put it in an fbody. If I can get the vette trans cheap enough, I'd save a ton over buying one from a vender.

The likes of D&D sell a kit of parts to convert the box to an F Body fitment

Not sure if all TR6060's are the same though ?

Saw this in my summit magazine. Says it's for a ls. They have 4 listed. 2 for Ford and 2 for GM. (Close ratio /long ratio) of each

It may bolt to an LS, as can other magnums etc, but it is not a direct bolt in for an F-Body T56.

Shifter and driveshaft would require modifications. It is baffling as to why Tremec arent doing an F-Body drop in Magnum.

It's easy. $$$$$ the money isn't there for them to have a big enough piece with all the other shops already doing conversions/builds.

All the shops are doing the conversiosn ebcause Tremec arent offering it themselves though.

Like really....the FBody T56 is fitted to nearly all LS1 engines, or certainly the vast majority

Their "LS" Magnum....isnt in a fitment that fits ANY factory car with an LS engine, so almost seems absurd to call it an LS Magnum although it does bolt to the engine.,...just no car the LS ever came fitted to.

Somehow, they seem to think that the now very popular swap/conversion LSx aftermarket has more customer potential than ALL of the 4th gen f body possible replacements combined.

And making life easy for everyone....most of those would have bought F-Body gearboxes anyway, so why change lol

If people wanted a longer box with more awkward shift position they'd buy a Ford T56 fitment or for shorter a Viper style.

Nice. D&D does a GTO conversion, as well.

$4200 shipped for the trans doesn't seem too terrible considering the price that used T56s go for. You'd be in the same ballpark as a T56 rebuild after selling the old transmission (assuming a failure didn't prompt the purchase of the new one ).

Absolutely, the converted Magnums are good value...a direct bolt in from Tremec would be even better value though

While a direct fit 6060 from tremec would be nice, at least there ARE these bolt-in conversions are available. The t56 parts market has gone completely out of control thanks to tremec's refusal to continue producing replacement parts and the aftermarket only stepping up for select pieces. In the last 3 years prices for most hard parts have doubled or worse, and some parts are no longer being made by anyone.
