Default only 1-4 gears work 5,6 and reverse dont engage

Been looking for t56 and know you can make a c5 t56 into a gto clone

found a ad and guy selling for 200

"only 1-4 gears work 5,6 and reverse dont engage as stated "

Was going to rebuild any trans i got to strengthen it anyways ,just wondering as this is a new area for me

As into what needs to be replace and whats damage can cause this and whats parts are or need to be change or just keep looking for another trans

its possible but it takes a lot of work... main shaft shifter rails, mid plate and a few other things. all in all you may spend more money rebuilding that one and converting it... best to call tdp or tick and ask them for a rough quote

Could also be the lugs are sheared off the back of the cluster gear. This will cause the unit to lose 5-6-R gears.

That won't result in losing reverse, just 5-6 gears.

Could possibly be the snap ring on the rail. Ive seen them come apart and killing 5/6 and reverse. Basically the rail will move but the syncro assemblies are stationary.
