Default Question about aligning T56 to motor

I recently bought the QuickTime scattershield. Upon reading about the alignment procedure, I now understand some of the issues I have had. Since the motor was rebuilt the trans had had issues twice, and it hasn't shifted well at high rpm. I suspect the alignment is off.

Unfortunately it seems measuring the T56 cars isn't easy.

My question is, do I have to use the front plate from my transmission, or can it be from any T56? I just got my trans back from being rebuilt and don't like the idea of taking it apart.

I went ahead and ordered all three offset pin kits. I think I understand what needs to be done, and want to do it right, but am hung at this point.
