Default Slave cylinder

Hey all,

I need to get a slave cylinder for my t56. Does brand really matter? Why is McLeod is the most expensive? Than factory GM . The cheapest is doorman. Does the cheapest brand worn out faster than the latter more expensive brand?

The factory GM one will work fine...

if you have a tick master cylinder, make sure it is adjusted properly so you don't damage the bearing...like i did.

and you should install a speed bleeder if it has not already been done.

YES. It especially matters for this part. Historically you'd want to avoid the Delco and use the GM. (They are different parts for the slave.). I'll let others chime in on other more modern options.

Cost doesn't necessarily equate to quality here.

The Delcos and the rebranded versions notoriously failed out of the box. I learned that the hard way with an extra $750 bill to swap out a "new" Delco.
