Default Used T56 transmission years?

I have a 1997 Z28, took out 5th/6th gear and shaft, what years can I swap from. The local bone yard told me 1997 ONLY.please help I need to get this thing out of my driveway.

You can use parts from 94-02 t56 for everything but the input shaft, which is 94-97 LT1 only.

Thanks for the reply, so can I get a 98-02 transmission and put my input shaft in that trans?

You're gonna have a much better chance of finding a 94-97 model unit for cheap than the newer LS1 unit but yes, you can swap your input shaft and mid plate onto a newer F body unit.
