Default Need info for 6-speed for AWD build

I am planning on taking a NP149 transfer case and mate it to a 6speed, this will be going into a 70' Chevelle with an LS motor with a goal of making ~850whp.

I'd appreciate any leads/info on transmission choice for this project, I currently have a stock t56 out of a C5 sitting around, maybe I can get that rebuild?

With the amount of fab you'll need to do to the front of the car I don't see why you couldn't make a t56 work. How were you planning on setting up your front drive system?

Still figuring that out.

Considering using Typhoon or TBSS diff up front, but then I have to try to match the rear end gear ration, the rear will be IRS setup utilizing C5 spindles.

Pretty much... but with IRS rear end AND 6spd. I have a ~600hp RWD car and an 850+hp AWD car and there is no comparison, the AWD car just goes where the RWD just spins. I want a high HP car and still be able to get on it and have some traction

My buddy has a turbo 4.5i V6 Syclone and TR6060/awd setup. It's a Transzilla transmission and I'm about positive it cost more than $20K. He isn't selling it... but it can be done....

A custom tailhousing is machined to mate the T56 output shaft to the transfercase.... as there is no factory offering as you know. If you know a machinist or competent CAD designer.... you could certainly save a ton of $$$. It started as a 2008+ Z06 trans. Those are around $4K new.

Other option is the likes of an R33 Nissan Skyline box. They are very strong ( although 850 may be pushing it if the car is very heavy ) and a lot more compact than the T56 fabricated piece

R34 may be an option too, although I think the centre diff is more complicated in those.

As their transfer box is on the right side of the vehicle, it may suit the US LHD cars better

Obviously you'd need to make it fit the car though, and they're probably expensive in the US ?

Thanks, I'll call tranzilla and find out.

I can't see myself dropping anywhere close to 20K though on the trans...
