Default T56 magnum - tick vs D&D

I'm placing an order this week for a new t56 magnum for a fbody. The 2 company's I'm torn between are D&D and tick. I called both places and they seem to be the exact same transmission, the only difference is that the tick t56 magnum is 500 dollars more. Does anyone have any experience with either company's t56 magnums?

Thanks

Why not rpm. Seems tick and rpm are the most common . I've delt with rpm twice now with excellent result. Also rpm built t56 has the 6 speed record
I didn't have a very good experience with tick when I sent my t56 to them. it shifted fine when I took it out of the car . They tore it down to put a stage 5 kit in it , ended up calling me telling me almost everything was bad and the trans was worth about $300. Being 800 miles away I couldn't go look myself. Maybe it was true maybe it wasn't. But I didn't have a good feeling about it.

I haven't contacted them because of price. They were more expensive than tick.

Rpm level 4 is just shy of $4,000. Isn't that the same as d&d? I just bought one from them.

Yes, but at 4000, the D&D t56 magnum comes with carbon blocker rings and bronze shift pads. Those are around 1000 dollars extra on top of the 4000 dollar rpm t56 magnum.

I'm trying to figure out what the real benefit of carbon rings and micropolish is

D&D is a large Tremac dealer which does also modify transmissions. I bought my new T56 (not Magnum) from them in 05 and had them do a few "upgrades" to it before shipping.

I don't have any direct experience with the other two companies mentioned, can only say my experience with D&D is +

I just received my magnum from rockland standard gear. I payed around 4600 for all the normal upgrades plus a 9310 gearset. Rated at 1000ft and 1200hp. It's a bad bitch.

George at RSG helped me tremendously with my Magnum rebuild. If I were in the market for a new transmission, I wouldn't hesitate dealing with RSG. I am also interested to know if you went with one of his custom ratios.

It's a transzilla magnum, they don't do t56 transzilla's do to cost effectiveness I assume. They took a standard magnum put a 9310 gearset and some carbon blocker rings.
They offer 5 or 6 different ratios. I did
2.66 1st with the .80,.63 5th & 6th.

Still happy with your decision? Which shifter do you have on it?

is there something wrong with the Tremec T56 Magnum from the factory that you have to tear into it and do basically a rebuild on a brand new transmission? I thought this thing was supposed to be badass out the box? just curious because i dont know better and it seems like a lot of people go this route

No...but it will not directly bolt into an FBody type fitment.

I think the input shaft is a little longer, shifter position further forward and tailshaft longer requiring a shorter driveshaft.

So is the TZ Magnum still a Magnum fitment, they dont actually offer a T56 fitment ?

I tried to ask this of them several times ages ago, but never could get an answer.
