Default Shifter gets notchy randomly. Any ideas?

It's a Monster LT1-R with a GM master and Pro 5.0 shifter. Randomly it will get notchy and hard to put into gear. If sitting at a light after putting it into first if I pull it out of gear it is hard to put into any gear. Also if I'm rolling to a stop in neutral it is hard to get into gear but when I fully stop it will free up and go into gear.

the intermittent part is frustrating....but one common reason it is hard to put in gear is hydraulic issue.

did you try bleeding the system and replace fluid?

If when it does do this try putting it in 1st, clutch all the way in, fully stopped...rev motor, does car creep forward?

If so that means you are not getting full clutch disengagement so shifts would be hard.

I have tried that and it doesn't pull forward. I have not bled it yet but the clutch is only about 6 months old and it was done then.

Random indicates hydraulics. Master could be bypassing past the seals

IF you use the clutch HARD, and get it very hot very often, it would not hurt to flush the fluid out every 2-3 months, especially if you are just using on the shelf, generic DOT 3/4 fluids, and not the high zoot 'racing' DOT 4 s.

Ok thanks. I'm using a stock master, is it possible I need to upgrade to a Tick or something?

FWIW they offer two diameter masters. I like the bigger one, but makes pedal stuff and engagement window narrow. If you want it to feel stock make sure you get the smaller one

Is that the larger one or smaller one?

isn't stock bore 3/4"?

I see Tick has the 7/8"....

http://www.tickperformance.com/tick-...-firebird-ls1/

or the McLeod makes a 13/16" MC. They use the Wilwood "compact" MC
