Default 2000 M6 clutch pedal question

I was recently driving my car and when I pushed the clutched down to get into gear and get going, I heard what sounded like a metal pin snapping or coming off of the car. After I heard this notice my clutch all of a sudden became much stiffer and didn't have that floppy feeling it usually has. Anyone know what this could possibly be? I looked on my floor mats and didn't see any metal.

Check to see if your clutch pedal return spring snapped.
