Default Pitting on input shaft?

Finally got the engine and tranny out yesterday. After pulling the tranny and wiping off the (now basically powdered) grease, there's quite a bit of discoloration and a little bit of pitting on the tip of the input shaft.

Am I hosed and need a new one? Or would a quick clean with a bit of emory cloth make it good as new?

From your pic it doesnt look that bad, either emory cloth or a scotch brite should clean it up. Try sliding a new bearing on it and see how it fits.

Mine looked like that on my new torque tube I bought, some WD40 and a brass brush and it looked good as new and smooth as all get out. Just make sure whatever you use is softer than steel. I cleaned the splines real well also.
