Default New Diamond Stage II lugging when taking off in first gear

Brand new clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, tick master cylinder. Car is lugging similar to like when you try to start off in a higher gear than first. Have tried adjusting the clutch and was able to get some of it out. Disc is full surface friction material. Is this normal and will get better with some miles on it?

How is it when you give it more gas? Does revving higher or letting it out a little slower help?

Only happens when letting out on the clutch pedal. The slower I let out on the pedal, the less it does it. I have only driven it up and down the block since I installed new motor. Waiting to fully test drive it after buddy helps me with a new tune.

full face "organic" disc?

Organic clutch should be very smooth engagement

The new clutch is likely engaging sooner, thus bogging motor, than your old worn one.

You may have to adjust your rpm & clutch release method slightly

I believe the Tick MC is a larger bore than stock and if so that will also "narrow" the travel of the pedal/engagement

That and new clutch you just need to adapt engagement technique.

Diamond stage 2 is ceramic and took my car about 900 miles to properly break in. With a poly Trans mount it was pretty damn brutal, I went back to a stock mount.

It's normal, and will go away after break in.

New motor has poly mounts but i did not install the poly trans mount yet, still has the stock trans mount. This was an auto to manual conversion i did at the same time i installed the new/modified motor.

I'll try to work on my pedal release and put some miles on it and see what happens. Haven't had a manual car in many years.

That clutch disc, IIRC, is segmented ceramic disc aka "puc" type friction surface

That type of clutch disc is more aggressive and prone to "chatter" especially when new and during break-in. After than not as much but the engagement window for smooth starts is narrow so driving technique needs to be adjusted (rpm & clutch pedal release)

So probably nothing installation related, just need to drive it awhile and see what happens.

Correct. It will chatter like hell for the first few hundred miles.

Did you use ARP flywheel bolts? Did you use plenty of the preload grease?

I used too much, and it flung grease all over the friction surfaces on my old monster S3. Chattered like a bitch until it finally burned all that grease off. After that, it only chattered sometimes.

Puck-style clutches, I have found, as you try to do really smooth engagement, they chatter worse and embarrass you in front of your girl or friends - whoever you're sitting with asks wtf is wrong with your car. Drive like a douchebag and just launch it all the time, and they tend to not chatter - and your girl or friends ask wtf is wrong with YOU.
