has anyone thought of desiging a forward mounting t56 shifter
operating in the opposite manner as the stock one that rides off the *** end of the transmission?
seems like it is possible to do it.

There are a few cars that use a transfer bar to mount shifters either ahead or farther back from the stock locations, Panoz uses one of them as I recall. not complicated..

YES what I was refiring to is like the last poster describes, a remote shifter up front, ~the opposite as the one that rides off the tail shaft, so owners of early F-bodys for example -don't have to hack up the drive shaft tunnel, and can do something civilized with a shifter,
Remote shifters are all just different arrangements, I found that the closest direct swap in for the 68 Camaro is the uber rare astrovan t5, which I have two of, the stock offset remote shifer on those things are odd to say the least, if that can be done, I am confidant someone can make a remote t56 for an early Camaro... but im not a machinist.
