New clutch slipping
Just replaced the pressure plate, clutch disk, flywheel, and throwout bearing on my setup. (2002 LQ4, GTO T56). Bought the replacement setup for a 2005 GTO.
Initially had issues bleeding the master/slave (stock fbody), but got it figured out.
Took it for a spin around the block. was real gentle with it. felt pretty good at first then started slipping bad. Luckily the rest of the way home was downhill, could just coast most of the way.
Pulled it apart and found this. Not sure what the brown stuff is? i used a small amount of blue loctite on the PP bolts. doubt its from that?
Need some help on what else to check

Did you clean all surfaces properly prior to installation ?
If so, there could be no residue from anywhere.
And are you saying the clutch was slipping so bad it would not even drive ?
If those photos are from it taken apart, it doesnt look like it has been slipped at all, ie zero heat in it.
Was it bolted together correctly ?

I don't see any wear marks at all!?! Don't worry about the brown stuff... there is no clutch engagement there.
You better make sure your clutch is for a LS1 style flywheel.... as that is what you have.
Must also run an Fbody style pilot bearing which goes in the back of the crank.

That is definitely not a LS2 GTO flywheel and clutch...The flywheel and pressure plate need to be wiped down with brake cleaner before installation. They have all kinds of anti rust goop on them...

Everything was cleaned beforehand.
Measured the slave cylinder and pressure plate. Looks like there isn't enough clearance and the clutch is partially engaged. Hoping I just need to adjust the self adjusting pressure plate.

Reset the pressure plate and installed it. I think it made it worse.
Slave to bellhousing is ~2.08" and now the pressureplate fingers to bellhousing is ~1.86" so the slave will be engaging the pressure plate fingers by 0.2" once its all bolted together.
I think I understand whats going on now with how everything pivots and rotates. Probably should have gone the other way slightly, or just left it alone.
Gonna bolt the trans up real quick and pump the clutch a few dozen times and see if it tries to reset itself.

Turns out my issue was a bad o2 sensor causing the motor to bog/misfire.
Figured I'd post an update for anyone that finds this thread 5 years from now.
Also, reseting the PP wasnt necessary. I bolted it up and pumped the clutch 20-30 times without even starting the motor. Pulled it apart again and it had readjusted right back to the same spot as before I reset it.
