Default slave to clutch distance too short with quicktime bell

hey guys,

ive done a ton of searches on this in the past week and cant find anything to help, so hopefully someone has some insight.

heres the list of parts
2011 L96 (ly6 basically)
quicktime rm-8020 bellhousing
stock ls1 flywheel from my wifes trans am
spec stage 3 6 puck clutch from the trans am
borg warner lt1 t56 with borg warner ls1 front plate, new ls1 input shaft
gm slave cylinder

now, when i go to measure to see if i need to shim the slave cylinder, my bellhousing to clutch fingers, and tob to trans front plate is the same measurement at 1.950". yes the bellhousing backing plate is on the motor as well. ive taken this assembly apart multiple times, and just did again yesterday to verify if there was no crank spacer left on the crank, where there is not.

i called spec the other day but the tech guy wasnt in (too late in the day), but verified the clutch disc thickness is still within spec. my disc measures 0.330", the new disc should be 0.350 and replace at 0.310". so i am right in the middle of life.

i need to gain clearance. i guess the only way i can gain this distance is if i mill the front plate where the slave bolts to? i dont really want to add a spacer to the bell on either side of it.
i do plan to call spec again tomorrow to try to get more info on this clutch.

anyone else have any thoughts?

thanks

aaron

Default

Spoke with spec today, and was given an overall dimension.
Im told the over all height from crank flange to fingers needs to be 3”, mine comes up to 3.390”.
looks like the clutch is bad. Damn.
