SPEC 3 clutch chatter
So, I finally upgraded from my stock clutch to a SPEC 3 with billet Flywheel.
I was told by a buddy, and also from reading around that the normal clutch chatter would go away after about 500 miles.
I've got currently 330 miles on the car, the chatter hasn't shown much improvement other than when I first got the car back. After the first 50 miles it improved a tad. But I still have massive amounts of chatter, the kind that rattle your fillings out of your teeth.
I'm not a newby to driving manual either, I'm pretty smooth on take offs. Now, the car has become by far the most frustrating car i've ever driven. Even beyond that of a 1st gen Toyota MR2 that felt like driving one of those flying cars from the Jettsons.
Only time it doesn't chatter is if I take off in a slightly brisk manner, which as my friend said to me just to keep doing that. But, daily driving doesn't always allow you premier lane choice at a stop light... so taking off briskly behind a large truck isn't an option. Unless I've got stock in my local Autobody shop.
So, I'm asking... is 500 miles the magic number? Like I've stated... it hasn't really improved other than the initial few miles from the install. Which was done by a local shop that's been around since dirt was invented, with a guy who owns it since before then. So I don't think it's a install problem...
Any ideas? I'd like to keep my fillings in my teeth if I could, I hate going to the dentist.

Yeah...check out the Buschman clutch bleeding method...particularly part 3 of it. I just started messing with it last night with my Mityvac, and I was pulling out air bubbles left and right (and I thought mine was bled pretty well). This morning, my chatter that I normally have was greatly reduced (this is on a RAM Powergrip HD).

I'm planning an A4 to M6 swap using a stage 3 and I'd like to install the clutch right.

Hmm, Ok... I'll do some burn outs and practice my 60' times. I have the hardest time launching this damn car. My old 240z was way easier to launch in comparison. And It'd run in the low 13s all day on max boost.
Just need more time behind the wheel.

Bleeding the system will not solve your problem....
The Stage 3 Kevlar chatters.... I have installed Spec Stage 2 through stage 5 and always the Kevlar chatters..
500 miles is not the magic number..
Here's what I would do..
At 500 miles I would start getting on the clutch.. Do some hard launches..
After 1200 miles and no results.. If you can;t live with it.. Trade it in for a stage 4 Carbon.. Much better clutch... SPEC has given us credits in the past for problems with the clutch...
I would contact Spec now, tell them your problem and have them doc the problem. So that if you send it back in another 1000 miles they won't fight you as much...
Stage 5 squeeks... Stage 4 will be good for your setup, and the streetability is very good
