Spec stage 3 on the street ?? Hi,
my Spec stage 2 clutch is now a-slippin', and thinking of goin with a stg. 3.
Is the stage 3 very liveable on the street for a daily driver ? is it overkill for heads/cam ?
Sorry, don't know my HP / Torque numbers, have not been on a dyno...

I'd say that 60% of modified f-bodies are sporting a SPEC stage 3. From what I've read, the Stage 3 is very streetable. Mine is going in my Street Car on Friday. I'll let you know what I think after the 500 mile break in period.

Wouldn't have any other clutch. I've had mine for about 8 months and I love it especially once I changed to 4.10's. Easier on the clutch. People complain about chatter, but you have to get us to it.

Had mine for about two months and I would say it was streetable, but I don't know how comfortable it would be for a DD. I have 3 other cars, so my WS6 is certainly not my DD, and I couldn't imagine wrestling with the SPEC Stage 3 and my cam every day in traffic. That would become very annoying, very quickly.
That being said, it's a very nice, very tough clutch. If you have the power, you should definitely have the clutch, and the SPEC Stage 3 is the best for the $$$.
I think the McLeod Twin Disk is a better, smoother clutch, but it costs a little more than the SPEC Stage 3. I opted for the SPEC because the McLeod's were all back-ordered when I was buying a clutch, and I didn't want to wait.

been DD ing one for elike 2 years now both years with spec aluminum Flywheel, and BIg cam. and one year with spec's light whieght option and last year with out light weight option

I have a spec 3 with the aluminum flywheel with about 25,000 miles on it. It still grips hard, but it hasn't ever seen a sticky tire either. It does have some clatter and grabbiness in stop and go traffic, not fun in that situtation. Overall I am pleased. My Z06 clutch wasn't that bad, but finally ate it on some nittos (still survived over 25 plus passes at the track with drag radials though). If you are keeping it on the street with regular tires, the Z06 should last for quite a while.

my opinion on the chattering on these clutches is... you either want a nice smooth ride or you want a fast car. bottom line. you have to choose. you want to make alot of HP you HAVE to have a good clutch which will be chattery. it's not meant to drive smooth it's meant to take abuse. it's a trade off on pretty much everything performance orientated on our cars. the faster my car gets the less street driving friendly it becomes. i have had 2 stage 3's and after a week you forget what a stock clutch feels like anyway. it becomes normal and you wont notice it.
