Default Has anyone used penzoil Synchromesh for their T56

I'm putting in a new clutch, and I had gm synchromesh tranny fluid in my car, but I really don't want to spend another $40 on tranny fluid. Has anyone used the penzoil synchromesh tranny fluid with any luck? How does it compare to the gm stuff?

With a stock T56 you don't need anything but what's recommended for it...I used the regular dexron III for it, $3-5 or so a bottle I think it was at the parts store.

My dad has a 2000 WS6 with mobil 1 in his tranny, and I had the gm syncromesh in mine, and mine shifted 100x smoother. I don't want to put something in it that makes it notchy...

I have always ran synchromesh. Everyone who insists on following directions (DEX III) is missing out on a very smooth shifting.

Have you tried the pennzoil, or just the gm? I know the pennzoil is cheaper, but if its not any good I guess I'll have to spend the $$ and get the gm stuff at 11/quart.

I'm using the Pennzoil Synchromesh in my 2001, but only for the last 6 months. It did smooth out the shifting.

I haven't heard of the Pennzoil stuff until this thread. I wouldn't imagine it's much different though.

I didnt use the Syncromesh, but i did use the regular penzoil ATF Dex III. It was like 6$ for a 4 qt. jug at pepboys. My car shifts fine. However, i havent used any other brands, so that is as much as i can tell you. HTH

Hey guys, its funny that this was brought up b/c the last few days my car has been kind of a pain to shift. I just got a brand new clutch, flywheel, and Master. I changed my tranny fluid about 5k miles ago with the penzoil atf dex III. Could it be the tranny fluid that is causing the car not shifting smooth?? any help would be appreciated!

I'm gonna guess it's exactly what's in the GM bottle. Anyone out there know for sure??

Does anyone know where to get the penzoil syncromesh? I've been to 2 pep boys, and neither of them have it.

If I recall correctly (from my own surfing before buying), Pennzoil actually makes the GM Synchromesh. I bought it at AutoZone or Advance (don't remeber which it was).
