The transmission shop that I was going to do my T-56 rebuild through has a never used T-56 out of a Trans Am....I think it was an '02. They've offered it to me for $1000. I have no idea what's wrong with my tranny...I get an occasional grinding going from 2-3...and it popped out of 4th gear once. Is this a great deal on a "new" T-56, or should I take my chances and see what my current T-56 needs?? The only thing that makes me a bit nervous is that I've read the stories on here about the Tremec T-56s having more problems than the Borg Warner T-56s. In addition to the tranny I'll also be putting an LS6 clutch in the car. Need advice!!!

You could have yours fixed with upgraded parts for not more than 200 more than the $1000. From what you descriped you might need a gear but you might now. The stock tranny will not have carbon blocker rings, steel fork, bronze fork pads, billet keys or a warranty with it. Yours would if you send it to me. Think about the positives and negatives. Negative, you might spend a few hundred more. Positive, you will have upgraded parts and a warranty!

Thanks,
Joe

Yeah, I was checking out your site Joe probably just as you were responding. Obviously it'd be worth it to pony up the extra 200 bucks or so for the upgraded parts and warrenty. I assume you guys would also be able to get me everything I need for my LS6 clutch as well. What is your average turn-around time....just trying to gauge how long I'll be without my car.

1-2 days from the time I get it right now. Yes just let me know what all you will need for the clutch setup (flywheel, clutch, slave, master and so on). Shipping time is 2 business days with DHL as well. Give me a call if you have any more questions and I will get it done as soon as possible.

Thanks,
Joe
