LS7 Clutch guys, come in!
Ok, clutch took the **** last night looking at upgrading and doing the ls7 clutch swap as opposed to a spec III or mccloud or anything. Would you guys recommend this? Where did you guys buy your kits from GM dealerships or are there any sponsors running specials or anything like that? Thanks.

i just put mine in the other day. i freakin love it! it's smooth as hell, grabs nice, and has very nice manners (IE NO CHATTER!!) i would strongly strongly NOT recommend the SPEC3, that's what i just took out of my car because it lasted 6k miles and the thing fell apart.
i got my LS7 from T56 rebuils.com (sponsor) and it was $550 to my door. i think you can find it cheaper elsewhere...but $550 for a clutch and flywheel isn't that bad of a price

I just helped a guy on here install one this weekend (HartAttack). Went in really easy, and held up to his heads/MS3 setup, and he was ripping the **** out of it last night (after I set his rev limiter to 7k RPMs). I'm impressed...it'll be going in as my next clutch.

Goes to the shop Wed....another question what is the difference in design between 98-00 master and slave cyl. and 01-02? Thinking i'm going to upgrade while it's opened up and the ls7 goes in. Just kind of curious as to what advantage i'm looking at, i know alot of guys do it. Surely you all know why haha. i'm guessing it's just got a bigger opening? also drill mod is being done with the clutch install.

Another thing i'm worried about is doing a "stock" clutch. I know they are beefy but i was very unimpressed the past month or so with my LS6 clutch. Took the **** after the cam swap with for the most part easy driving. I think it's what i'm going to go for after reading alot of bad things tonight about Spec.

yeah spec has a terrible wrap on this site.
the way i look at it is, if the C6 Zo6 is making what 505 hp or something, im guessing that's flywheel, if you're making that much, or less, you should be fine right?
my best friends dad owns a chevy dealership, and he and his dad both race C5's fully preped racecars in SCCA, and one time when they rented a track for some testing, they just so happened to bring out a C6 Zo6 for testing...trust me they beat the **** out of that car, and it still came back for more
to make that story short, i think more of us need to get more miles on these clutches and see how they really last! but it can't be any worse then my spec 3 so why not?

I installed mine last weekend and have 275 miles on it. Check out my post for details on purchase, install, etc. https://ls1tech.com/forums/manual-transmission/524389-ls7-clutch-installed-weekend.html
I've been planning to get to 500 miles before being "rough" on it but I ended up slightly abusing it tonight racing a guy in STi with exhaust and possibly other mods. I couldn't resist when I heard his turbo spool up . It felt great and held up nicely. And I had him by about 2 cars from 25-90ish (2nd thru mid-4th with my 4.11's).
As to longevity, I'm assuming it HAS to hold longer than the Spec (about 18K) considering the abuse the LS7's will put on them but I guess we'll see.
