Default grinding noise when coasting to stop

I had some trouble recently with the gears grinding. Also had a problem where the car would not go in gear with the clutch pedal to the floor. It acted like the clutch was not disengaging at all.

Now I have been paying more attention to the car, turned down the radio and heard a strange noise while coasting to a stop this morning. I listened on the way home and heard it again. It appears to be coming from the tranny. It happens with or without the car in gear.

It seems like two different problems. Anybody know of anything that could cause the clutch to act up at a stand still, grinding when shifting on the road, and rattle/grinding when coasting in and out of gear?

Sounds like I have a trip to the garage in my future.
