What is the difference between '98-'99 slave and '01-'02?

What is the difference between '98-'99 slave and '01-'02? I went to the dealer to get a new slave for my '99 SS after my tranny rebuild and the one I got was made of plastic where it seats against the front plate of the tranny. The one I replaced was made of aluminum. Did I put the wrong slave on my tranny? I heard the only one they sold now was the updated one.

That's something I would like to know too. I know they updated the slave to decrease clutch pedal effort in the Z06's for 01. I personally would prefer a heavier clutch of an LT1. Mine is too soft and mushy for me.
