How much horsepower can a stock tranny hold?
I plan on going big cubic in with the LS7 top end, so i'll be looking for 600rwhp NA. Thats why i'm asking how much can the stock tranny hold?

If you drive it well and crunch gears or anything they can take a lot. My friend is running 615 rwhp with a procharger through his stocker. He has an 02 and I know there were some minor updates on the trannies after 2000. Sometimes it's a matter of luck also but if you don't have the funds to upgrade the tranny right now then stick with stock and see how it goes.

as long as you don't miss gears, it will take a LOT of power. I was running 680rwhp through it for about a dozen passes at the track with no issues. about 100 other passes with ~550rwhp. missing gears will fairly quickly destroy it.

Transmissions do to see HP. They see torque. if you slap them hard , they see impacts that break things ( at very high levels). If you shift with sanity and avoid wheel hops, serious power transfer is attainable.
