Question about hurst aftermarket shifter.
I just recently got this car, and it has this aftermarket hurst shifter on it.
1. It doesnt feel good
2. Its ugly and chrome. lol
3. Its as tall as a truck shifter
4. It wont accept stock shift *****. Wrong thread size. I.E. Stock leather wrapped hurst shift ****.
I was wondering first, does anyone know if I can just purchase a ws6store short shift rod and it will bolt up and totally solve my problem for less that $30? I have never seen this shifter for sale. I have some pics of what I speak of. Just hoping this will solve my problem. Thanks in advance for advice.

Damn! I dont blame you for wanting a new shifter.. Im not sure as to whether a short stick will fit on it but you can check pretty easily. Just screw the **** off, pry out the shifter boot and there you go. Look to see if it has 2 bolts holding it in, and snap a few pics so we can check it out.

Wow is that tall....... I have the Hurst billet Plus in my car and it is nothing like that. Much shorter and the stock ***** fit fine on it. The stick is curved towards the driver and there is no taper at the top of the stick. Maybe give Hurst a call and see if you can get the stick for the Billet Plus.

Well I looked and researched, and it appears there are many variations of this hurst billet plus, and competition plus, etc. I have found mine for sale at some sites. It appears they made a bunch of different shifters witht the same base, but just different ***** and handles. Mine just happens to be the crappy one. But anyways, I ordered my ws6store short stick today, so when that comes in in about 3 days, I will take pics, etc. Let you guys know how it turned out, laters,

The stick may be long and you may not like its looks but it is, in fact a shorter throw shifter( it has a lower mechanical advantage). You do know that you can change the handle, right? And Hurst makes a blue bazillion of handle options, right? Before you call the baby ugly and throw it out with the bath water, check out what you can do with it. Sounds like the PO bought the wrong model/ set-up( Perhaps an S10 stick LOL)

OK guys, I replaced the rod with a ws6store short rod, I will try to get some pics of it today. Worls like a charm. And calhoon, you are right, it is a shorter THROW. The front to back throw is pretty short. Now that I have the short rod on there, it looks awesome, and feels awesome! Feels more soild now too. Should get some pics today. Glad this problem is fixed.

i have the exact damn thing in my car right now. i hate it. on top of having the longest shifter ever, the last guy that had it put the metal hurst t-handle on it. damn thing gets so after it sits in the sun that i keep a rag in the car to put over it so i can touch it to shift.
