Default RAM HD Died after 10kish what next????

not very impressed with RAM. this was supposed to hold 600 HP at the flywheel and i put heads on a month ago and it now cant hold 440ish. never been to track or had DR or slicks on the car. it has always chattered, which i can live with if it not going to slip and be a beast. has 10kish and only been in about 6-7 months. thinking of a SPEC 3. want to spend around $400-450ish on a new set up. what do you guys think?

you hear about a lot more specs crapping ouot then rams. I'd go witha ls7 clutch.

yea but how many more people run a spec 3 vs a ram hd?? also i know a clutch will not last forever but i thought the RAM HD would have held up longer than it did for me.

i've heard awesome things about textrilia and mcleoud (my spelling sucks, its late). pricey, but sure as hell better then replacing your clutch every year.

I don't know, but maybe we should try to get some figures. It seems like I see a thread every day about a spec blowing up or burning up after 5k miles. I don't care, I don't know how many are made, it jsut seems like they have a higher rate of failure. Now that is just people who are on the website. There are also numerous other ls1 sites out there that could have more of them going. Also, the people who don't know about car forums having issues with them. I've heard of one ls7 clutch going because the install wasn't right adn the clutch weared uneven. I've heard about a couple of rams. next to nothing for text or mcleon though.

in not trying to argue with you but it just seems to me that a lot more people have a spec. i am thinking that i am going to go with a LS7 anyways. it seems to be good for about 500 RWHP. i dont go to the track either or run slicks so from the DD stand point it sounds nice. no chatter will be sweet also. Textrilla sounds good but is priced too high for me.

Get the spec3+ like 98nosz28 said. We have one in a corvette making 705rwhp and it holds like a dream. The pedal engagement isnt too harsh either, its about what a textraila feels like.

I ditched the Centerforce and the SPEC3 for a Ram Twin Disc.....best decision ever. Plus
I got it at cost.

i put in an ls7 clutch and couldn't be happier. i put down 370 at the rear wheels and i beat the hell outta the clutch. never had a problem. i got all my parts from fred beans. they were the cheapest when i was shoppig. my brother runs a spec stage 3 in his car. the pedal is hard, it chatters, and it seems really harsh to me.
