i've got a 2002 z28 6sd, it makes a rattling noise inbetween shifts. also, if i'm stopped and in neutral, it makes a light rattle until i put the clutch in and shift into 1st.
do i need a new clutch or is it just a throw-out bearing? maybe something else?

also, i here a humming (more like an electric motor) in 6th gear when accelerating at 60 mph.

I would think the throwout bearing would make noise when you pressed the clutch since that's when there is tension on the bearing. IMHO

I just updated my master and slave and I've always noticed a very faint buzz/rattle when in neutral with the pedal up (old setup and new), so I guess it's normal. As far as the transmission, I think that's the regular trans noise. I hear it most when letting off the gas in 5th and 2nd.

one thing that i have noticed is normal while cruising is when you let up on the gas and there's a clunking noise. i've had that on both my 2002 z28s and the other was an auto tranny stock 4sd.
