The bellhousing is stuck on the guide pins, one on each side, but just keep prying a little on each side along with wiggling the bellhousing and it will come off. I just changed my clutch about a week ago and my bellhousing was a little tough getting off as well, but it was not that big of a deal to do. A little patience goes along way! Good luck!!

When i had my M6 my bellhousing sucked to get off! What i did was take a couple of puddey knifes and hit them in on both sides,Spray alot of penatrating oil up on them and as it spreads then go to screwdrivers ect.

You just need to do some prying on any slot you can get a pry bar in on the bellhousing. It'll come off eventually. To prevent this in the future, put anti-sieze on the dowels before you put it back together.

There are a couple slots on the sides of the bellhousing that you can use for prying. I'm not sure how accessible they are while the engine is in the car because I had the engine and tranny on the floor while doing this, but they make it a breeze.

Just keep at it man! It is a PITA i agree. I just kept wedging screwdrivers every time i could. I even hit it a few times with a hammer while i was prying. But dont hit it too hard and break it! I found out that if you just take a break and drink a cold beer with some buddies it will come off a lot easier when you climb back underneath the car! Patience is a must!

Some wd-40 on the dowels and a couple shots with a rubber mallet usually loosens it. It should wiggle right off. If not you'll need to do some "easy" prying on it.

Go to your local AutoZone and pick up a slide hammer with pilot bearing tools. Use one side of the pilot tool to yank on the bellhousing. Worked great for me....Twice.

Just so you know, if I remember correctly, the dowels are at the 10 & 2 o'clock positions. That way you know where to concentrate on where to pry. Just keep at it and try to pry evenly and it will eventually give up the ghost. I know this part took me the longest when I did my clutch install, it took nearly 2 hours!

The longest part for me was re-aligning the T56 back into the pilot bearing w/o being able to see it!
It seemed as if the bellhousing was never going to seat against the block. Very frustrating!
Wiggling the 100 LBS T56 abouve your head for hours while laying on the garage floor really tires you out!
