Can we use the new viper Tremec TR6060 trans????
the new 600horse viper uses tremecs new transmission. anyone know if it the same size as the T56 etc? will it fit? a few specs are.... wider gears, new synchronizers, triple cone 1st and 2nd gear syncs, and double syncs for 3rd-6th.
seems like the best replacment for our T56, that stock one is probaly better then a fully built T56, and a built TR6060 is proably freaking unbreakable, maybe we finally have an unbreakble manual!!!!!!!

Bad news is they will not be readly aviable until later this year or longer. The blocker ring material on the TR6060 is made out of a sintered broze material, simlar to what is in some heavy duty trucks (3/4 and 1 ton trucks), they are very pricey though and will not fit the current t56. I am sure that the TR6060 can be configured to fit an ls-1 f-body. I have heard stories of the TR6060 being torture tested at some insane torque levels for durability. On a side note the GTO has triple cone 1-2 and 3-4-5-6 have double cone syncros. I have a GTO m12 in my 2000 camaro street car.

I read in GMHTP that around the time of the release of the new camaro, tremec is intending to release a full aftermarket line of the tr6060, but they are calling it the "t56 magnum" They will be available as direct bolt-ins for our ls1 fbodys and are supposed to be good for 700 ft-lbs of torque. That was tremec's ad

I will have to pull it/find it but I buy alot of magazines, and a recent one I picked up has a small article on the "Magnum", as they called it. My house is under construction, but will try and dig it up.....

OK, Feb '09 Hot Rod, pg 108:
"T56 Magnum
Tremec
www.ttcautomotive.com
Tremec's new T56 is a T56 six-speed on steroids. The Magnum ups the ante with more preicse shifts and a stronger case, gears, guts, and output shaft to increase the power handling to 700Lb-ft. Rather than forging the gears and clutching teeth all as one unit, for the Magnum, Tremec laser-welded the two togther for a much more intricate design of the teeth. On top of that, the Magnum is physically narrower and equipped with wider gears as well as some sxtra meat to the front and rear of the main case. The T56 magnum will be available in configurations for 4.6 and 5.0 Fords, LS-series engines, and small block Chevys, but custom bellhousings for other applications will be available through most distributors.
Price: $3,000.00"

thats the same thing in the magazine i saw. 3000 doesn't seen too bad for a direct replacement that'll hold 700 ft-lbs. you'd be over that just buying a stock T56 and buying all the parts for it, without the heavier duty case...
I say good deal, now to find 3000...lol

I doubt its a direct fit but it might be close like the GTO units were . The TR6060 will be in the Viper , Mustang , G8 , Camaro , Vette , Challenger and probably different Aston Martin vehicles .

It wouldnt surprise me one bit if a 5th gen 6060 bolted right into an f-bod with little to no modification.
