SPEC stage 2+ Q's
** I tried the search and it keeps giving me a blank page
So a buddy of mine has a SPEC stage 2+ and we were at the track last weekend running our cars. We kept telling him to slip the clutch and his car just wouldn't do it, we were guessing that he kept dumping the clutch due to lack of seat time at the track with the new setup. (His is basically the same as mine H/C 12bolt, 17s etc) Anyway, I took the car out and the clutch seems like there is no room to slip it. Not that the clutch won't slip, but rather the distance between when the clutch first grabs and full disengagement is about 1/2" on the pedal. Does anyone else have this problem? He has all the updated hydrolics. Would an adjustable master cyl help?
I have a McLeod and it has plenty of room to slip it on the pedal, and my pedal throw is also much longer than his.
I realize that this is a difficult thing to explain and please ask if you feel you can answer the question but I am not giving enough information. Our next thought is to set the car up to dump the clutch with slicks and Hal's but would rather not do as its a daily driver.

What do you mean by freeplay? There is little to non play at the top of the pedal before the resistance.
Maybe this clutch is dragging also, the car will not allow powershifting, even with a new transmission.

If you are able to shift without issue then the unit is not dragging. Remember, stage 2+ uses a more agressive material than a stock organic disc meaning that it will be less prone to slippage. At what point in pedal travel are you seeing engagement and release of the unit? Is the pedal resistence consistent? Let me know and I will be happy to assist you further?

The clutch engages/disengages right in the middle of the pedal travel and there is consistant pedal feel throughout. The problem we are having is that there is not enough tolerance between the time the clutch initially grabs and the time it is fully engaged to slip it. But its not an on off clutch either and it doesn't chatter. We just want to increase the travel of disengagement.

KC, a different disc may provide the answer you are looking for. What kind of torque are you making? Give me a call and we can discuss options. I can be reached at 800-828-4379 x. 109. Thanks,

His car is making about 390-400rwtq. Its a simple H/C car.
He has decided he wants to try that drill mod first. I think we are going to do that this weekend or next and if that doesn't work I'll give you a call. Thanks for the help.
