can you still get into the gas when you are breaking in a new clutch ?
 

ok. i have a new centerforce df on my lt1. i know not to slip the clutch. but i have gotten rolling then punched it a few times ...is this something i should lay off until i surpass the break in miles ? its so hard not to drive it the way you want :bang: you know ? also should i be limiting rpms until the break-in period is up? thanks for any info you guys can give me

my own opinion yes a little spirited driving shouldnt hurt it but dont get on it to much or i dont like the idea of doing it till u break it in

you can drive it hard but try not to do any launches on it until its broken in. I beat on mine from rolls during break in.

Haha well not that I have ever done anything the RIGHT way, but when we installed my LS7 it was launched after maybe a quarter mile of driving. It's held up well so far tho, 15k miles and lots of track passes, and counting.

What if you put the clutch in and take it back out? I am thinking about buying a used clutch from a board member. The pics look really good. I would be getting the flywheel, pressure plate and friction disk. Do I need to turn the flywheel? Scuff it up? or just put it in and go? Thanks.

I would granny shift it into gear, then whack the throttle and repeat. Once it's engaged you can lay into the gas, just don't bang gears until it's broken in.
