I had an LS7 with near 400rwhp. Seemed to work pretty well for the 4 months I drove car before selling. However , it was a bitch at first because the pedal would release right off floor which made it nearly impossible to get into 1st or reverse.

if you are on a budget then go with the LS7 combo, it's holding fine in my H/C car

I just put a Spec Stage 2 in my car and I'm making about 365 rwtq. I don't have it fully broken in yet but so far, for daily driving it engages extremely smoothly and I haven't had any problems with it. It DOES engage right off the floor, though, just like the previous owner mentions with the LS7. My Stage 3 did not. Just some info for you.

the question should be what are the plans for the car in the future? if you are going for a H/C/I car that is going to see a lot of racing then a street twin or a tex would be in order. if it's going to be a bolt-on car then a LS7 or LS6 clutch will do.

I would not even consider and ls6 clutch it is what you have if you have and 01+ car. The ls6 is not worth the money seeing as it is about $70 more in price than ls7 which will not have a problem holding the power you have. Why spend $70 more on a lesser clutch. My vote goes ls7.

I just bought a Textralia OZ700 x-grip clutch. It was a little on the expensive side, but I've heard nothing but good things on it. I'll let you know how it turns out when it's installed.

Your getting a new one in a year or so right? So just pick one, its not going to have to hold for that long.

Spec 3+ should treat that setup well. Full friction disc, not the puck style, and plent of clamping power. A 2+ could probably handle it, but a little shot of nitrous or something like that could put you over the limit with a 2+. Call up the guys at Spec or one of the other clutch manufacturers and get their opinion. That's the best way to do it.

By the way, a decent clutch with a new flywheel is going to cost you $800-$1000+, so I'd plan on that. I haven't heard many people going with an LS7 clutch with plans to make over 500rwhp (although it might handle it fine).

that's b/c most aftermarket clutches need an adj master so that it doesn't engage off the floor or it could be shimmed.
