i have another question; is there a mileage limit that you shouldn't change the fluid in the T56? I have 87K miles on my car and im NOT the origional owner. I change my rear diff every 6K miles, i want to do my Tranny but im afraid of causing an issue since it has higher milage and i don't think it has ever been changed before (i put 40K miles on the car, i never did it atleast). what do you guys think?

I just put in GM Dextron 6. I'm not sure if it makes changing gears easier yet because my master has air in it. It does make the transmission ALOT more quieter than the GM Dextron 3.

I use costal ATF and it works great. It's $8 for the big jug and says it's rated for late ford and gm that require dex3 and dex4

Default Royal Purple

I have a T56 in my 06 goat. At about 7k I put in RP. AT approximately 20k 5th and 6th gear died. After a lot of problems finding a dealer to honor the warranty I got a new T56. After I got the car back, I put RP in it again thinking the problem was unrelated. At 5k on the tranny I put in Chevron non-syn ATF and it shifts better. Hope I saved it in time cuz the warranty is dead now after blower, engine swap etc etc

Looking back, I have to say the RP may have been responsible.

The GM tech told me it replaces all the old Dextron fluids made by GM. The back of the bottle says safe for all GM vehicles.

Do not use Royal purple, it will eat up the blocker rings.

Its NOT okay to use DexVI in your car. As the tsb states dexIII is replaced with GM part# 88861800 which is a manual tranny fluid.

Please read the last sentence in the first paragraph under reccomendations/instructions to validate....

I've been running Royal Purple for a while now and my tranny isn't doing so well. I've heard that swapping back will fix the problem if you catch it in time, so that's what I'm gonna do. It sucks because I can shift my car with my index finger now thanks to the RP. The regular stock **** is notchy and I hate it with every shred of life in my body, but I guess it's either use that or rebuild a transmission

so does that mean that the GM sythetic fluid is not good? Are all sythetic fluids bad for a T-56? I put the GM sythetic in it a few hundred miles ago...
