Do any one else's pedal squeak??

My clutch pedal just started squeaking when i press it down to shift.

Does your pedal do this?

I dont know why but it really bothers me

Yea mine does. My car has an A4 to M6 swap. I often wonder if I got the MC rod out of alignment.
But remembering back to the old days I used to take the clutch pedal out of the older 2nd gens and grease the plastic pivot bushings. That would solve the problem. Of course back then there was not as much wiring and stuff in the way, making the job much easier.

Damn thats weird, my car also has an A4 to M6 swap. Could this cause problems if the MC rod was out of alignment?

My clutch pedal will squeak on occasion. It comes and goes. No conversion here though.

MeentSS02 Oct 26, 2007 10:56 AM

I've had it from time to time as well...seems to do it less just after I flush out the fluid, but also seems to be somewhat related to the ambient weather at the time.

FNQUIKWS6 Oct 26, 2007 11:28 AM

Maybe it is the weather, Its just now starting to get a little colder so that could be it.

Its the spring that returns the pedal back to resting position, it needs to be lubricated.

Schitzo Oct 26, 2007 12:06 PM

try spraying some lithium grease on the moving parts.

i was just going to suggest that...99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999 99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 99999% of the time, if it's squeaky, it needs lube :)

wrd1972 Oct 26, 2007 01:20 PM

Normal, just lube the shaft.

Datzneat Oct 26, 2007 02:23 PM

Mine just started doing that also. Is the spring easy to access?

Canada Oct 26, 2007 02:30 PM

Mine is an a4 and my gas pedal squeaks. Defiantly annoying.

2000WhiteTA Oct 26, 2007 08:29 PM

When my clutch pedal started squeeking I had to replace my master cylinder. Look at your master cylinder under the dash and see if there is fluid leaking out of it. If your master has fluid leaking out of it you will need to replace the master and the squeek will go away.

MrEddie Oct 26, 2007 09:50 PM

Mine squeaked quite a bit right before the clutch return spring broke - didn't replace it. I have a fairly new master and it will make a slight squeak, but not bad. My Mazda 3 daily driver also squeaks a little as well, but no problems on either.

I agree

I think there is a service bulletin for this exact probem...Its the clutch return spring...Just through some grease on there to shut that thing up...I had one break...Its a PITA to install too...Not to mention the price for the spring :bang:

omg i have the same problem tooo!! it annoys the shit otta me, i jus went under there and sprayed it with silycon lube and that did not solve anything but i cant find where that return spring is anyways, i wish i could find it! but a quick fix 4 the problem is jus dump the clutch really fast with the car off and it would be fine but the noise would come back soon

NHRAMAN Oct 27, 2007 04:30 PM

I use spray silicone on alot of parts...belt tensioner also...pulleys...just use a little.

Man speeks the truth about replacing one real PITA.
And the dealer wanted 39.00 for it :bang:

:funny: That's the answer to ALL problems, not just this one in particular...:nono:...back to kindergarden for me!:jest:

Ya know, I always wondered wtf that was. My girlfriend's old Firehawk did the same damn thing after we had a new clutch installed, only it was ALWAYS! Talk about f*in annoying!
