how would I fill the transmission with fluid with tranny in the car. Its kind of hard to get to the fill plug. I heard a friend of mine said you can fill the tranny through the gear shift.

Shifter has always worked fine for me. I was using GM synchromesh, but gonna look around. My trans took a dump on a road course recently so I'm going to research and see what is working best for those guys to be sure it wasn't fluid related. My fluid was even fresh when this happened (less than 10k on it)

Remove the fill plug and keep an eye on it. Once the fluid starts to come out steady it's full. The same way you would do it if you were filling it through the fill plug.
