GRINDING IN 5TH!!!!! T56 swap Alright so i have a 99 s10 that i swaped in a 5.3 truck motor and a 02 camaro t56 that had under 6,000 miles on it. I have my swap done and i take my truck out to drive it for the first time and when i got up to speed it grinded going into 5th. In the begining it just grinded when engaging. Now today when i was driving to work after driving the truck for a week it wont even engage in 5th gear.
Every other gear works perfectly fine. when the truck is off every thing works and goes in fine in 5th. I even tried to double shifting and doing it at low and higher speeds and nothing works. It also does it when going from 6th to 5th. Im going wicked crazy over this and i dont know what to do. HELP.

It probably has a bad syncro ring on the 5th gear and possibly broken fork inserts as well . I doubts its going to fix itself so you will have to have it looked at .
