Ls7 Clutch Hold 6K CLutch Dumps on Occasion?
I have a h/c/i ls1 and im trying to figure out if the ls7 clutch is for me. I wanna hear from people who know not just guessing. The car will see the drag strip maybe 1 weekend a month and will be taking off at about 6k with 4.10s or 4.30s on a 26 inch drag radial. The car makes 460 rwhp n/a and will have a 150 shot on it one day.

I would not suggest it. Sure some might be doin it but this clutch is just a OEM GM clutch. Not a aftermarket upgraded clutch built for racing. Yes, it is a upgrade over our stock LS1 clutch set-up, but I would say invest in a good aftermarket unit made for racing & your demands.
The LS7 clutch is ideal for street driving & some track useage. But if your gonna put it thru heavy track duty, you really need to spend a little more. If you want great pedal feel & all the holding power your gonna need spend the money on a Twin disc set-up & don't look back.

When I put my ls7 clutch in, I was cam only (f13). I also only put about 600 miles on a year. When this one goes I will step up to a better clutch. It does still seem fine though, but when it grenades, my Mcloud bell housing better pay off.

Hey Btw, Ive probably done almost 50+ clutch dumps above 5500 rpms on the LS7 clutch and aluminum FW when I was 360ish rwhp.... through 3.73s and a 3350 - 3400lb car without driver weight included (250lb) and It doesnt slip yet and has around 10,000 miles on it Im assuming. I cant remember really when I installed it, RO is in the car, which isnt by me now... But all I know is after my 432whp after H/C my clutch pedal was sinking halfway, but Im sure thats from air getting in my hydraulic system after I did the H/C I didnt bleed it...

I dont know from experience but I wouldnt think the LS7 clutch would stand up to that kind of abuse. Textralia is expensive but I have heard good things, but I dont have first hand exp. with either. My LS7 clutch is going in next week.
