Default spec 2 clutch toast after 10k miles...what now?

well i need a new clutch and probably a flywheel too. I have a tr 230 cam,
ls6 intake, headers, and a 12bolt. The car only sees the track twice a year. will the ls7 clutch and ls2 flywheel work ok for my setup?? any other opinions? definitly not going back with spec

Hey 2000, why don't you send me some shots of ths parts for assessment. I know it's easier to just get online and make threads like this but perhaps letting me know you have an issue would have been a better place to start! You can email them to me or post them here. When was this initially purchased? Where was it initially purchased? Let me know and we can go from there. Thanks!

He's not trying to make a claim with Spec he just wants to know what will be good to replace his broken clutch with.

I personally don't have the LS7 but I know a few people that do and they have really like them. I think it would be good for your setup!

Arn't ALL aftermarket PERFORMANCE clutches only good for so many miles?
I always thought the clutch is a wearable part..

Driving habits are a big one on clutches, esp after market.

I have put over 30k on my ls7 of lots of stop go traffic with H/C making 415rwhp. Mine still holds fairly good.

this wasnt a thread bashing spec. with the spec two cluch i went to the track maybe 8 times and probably made a total of 35 passes. I dont constantly beat on my car, of course i drive it hard every now and then. i just think only 10k on it is a little rediculous

I didn't feel that he was inherently bashing anyone...I just wanted him to know that asking us about his issue and allowing us to assist in assessing it may be helpful. No worries...let me know if you all need anything else.

that's lame that it didn't last so long. I mean come on, i'm still on the stock clutch at 70K miles. it's only a bolt on car but i'll probably get the ls7/ls2 combo when i need to. i would expect it to last at least 50K miles. i never go to the track and my car will be a weekend warrior for the summer months.

i think i also may have reached the power limit on my spec two as well. cause it grabs ok in 1st and 2nd but when under a good load at a mid rpm in 4th or 5th gear when its making good torque is when it slips..
