How much in general would it cost to swap my A4 to an M6 parts and labor.

You are looking at around 2-3grand said and done. This depends on a lot of factors depending on what kind of deals you can get on parts and the transmission.

I think if you do it yourself and find good deals, you could probably get it done just over 1000.

a grand would be a stretch, what's his transmission worth? maybe 500. Perhaps looking at nigh 2 grand for a shipped t56, plus hydraulics, and a clutch. Idk 2k+ sounds about right.

I bought an M6 trans and all the supporting stuff for $1500. I had EPP do the swap for me since the trans was sitting in there shop. I spent maybe another 500 for a different BMR TA and crossmember. I gave EPP my old tranny for doing the swap. All said and done was probably around 2k. By far the best thing I have done to the car.
