Default T56 in 3rd gen, what drive shaft?????

Running T56 from a 94 Z28 using the drive shaft from the
Auto trans (700R4) that was in the car from the factory. Car is 87 Formula. Under accel getting a high speed vibration, still there when the clutch is in. Was told wrong drive shaft. I thought they were all interchangeable . If the length was off a little then it might be pulling out of the tranny under accel enough to cause vibration Any suggestions???

3rdgen T56 swap use the same DS as the 4thgen, which is the same as any V8 3rdgen DS..

Could just be the factory DS was marginal to begin with. A quick test would be to rotate it 180deg on the pinon, to see if it changes any. Otherwise pick up a factory LS1 Fbody DS, they fit/work great on thirdgens.

Did that at the track and still was the same. I thought about taking the DS out of my 00 SS M6 but is that the same length? I know the 4th gen DS's have a ext balancer on them on the end that goes into the trans. That means I would have to unbolt my seats to get the DS loop unbolted because I tried one time to swap out my SS DS and it would not go in becuse of the angle of the loop and the exhaust without me unbolting the DS loop.

Same length, splines, and u-joint.

Are you talking about the "balancer' on the front yoke?

That's still a smaller diameter than the ujoints, so I'm not sure what trouble you'd have with any DSL..

^^^^ Yes that is it, and I would agree..... I just remember last time I tried to swap em' out I was cuss'n becuase the angle of the exhuast (custom) and where the loop is mounted would not allow the balancer to fit through the loop unless I loosen'd up the loop itself which is a pain because I have to unbolt the seats to get to the bolts for the loop.

Buddy of mine did the same swap on his 88 firebird and used the stock 700r4 driveshaft with no problems. Probably be a good idea to take that driveshaft and have it balanced.
