Description:

Hello everyone,

I have a 99' blue green chameleon trans am which is why I'm part of this forum but I'm posting this to see what you guys think.

Im currently working on finishing the interior and when it's finished I'm probably selling it because I'm just not super into the car anymore. Please can you guys tell me what the car would be worth? I'll list the mods and please be honest. Thank you!

455 Pontiac engine (not original engine but the engine is from 1970)

bored .030 over
Converted to 4 bolt main caps
Forged pistons and rods
edelbrock heads and intake
pretty big cam not sure of the specs
demon carb
3 speed auto trans
msd ignition
aluminum radiator
put down 365 hp to the wheels

has some rust underneath but nothing crazy for being 50 years old.

Thanks again. The value of these are all over the place and I just want a straight answer from real people.

Were you the seller of that Trans Am or did you just buy it? Think it had a 228r cam and a stall and was selling for a pretty good price. I'm in Macomb...As far as the Grand Prix I don't really follow the market of those but I would think high teens to start? Assuming drivetrain is pretty fresh.

I was selling a while back and decided to keep it. Good memory! It does have the 228 cam. Really like that cam too. I would hope to get at least 13,000 for the Grand Prix, but it’s so hard to gauge the price when some people want $20,000 + for total junk. There’s just not that many out there. Maybe 2 on ebay at any given time.

Beautiful car, I’ve had three of them over the past 23 years including a 1970 roller I’m building now with a twin turbo 455 , there’s lots of room in the engine bay. Depending on what you mean by some rust underneath, if surface or frame rot, I would think mid teens could be possible. Interior condition and rust will make a difference in that price range on that car. Your engine combo is a good one and fortunately most Grand Prix people aren’t usually as picky about numbers matching as the GTO crowd. Was it originally a J or SJ and was it a 455 car to begin with. The problem is even if the sum of the parts are worth whatever you ask there just isn’t the demand for the Grand Prix as there is with other A body’s or even Monte Carlos. It’s a shame as they are fine cars when properly set up. Good luck with it.

Honestly, it's way cheap at 15k unless the rust is that bad. It looks like a 18-22k car, at least, but pics are tough on the internet. Good luck with the sale, FYI, you can always go down in price, but not up-just a thought.

The car is originally from South Carolina. It was brought here in 99’ by my grandfather. It’s never been restored so it obviously has some surface rust on the frame. To give you an idea the floor boards are totally solid. The car is originally a model J....my grandfather found a block that was out of another SJ. I really appreciate everyone’s responses so far!
