Anyone go through emissions around the Chicago area with an obviously modified LS1 car? Do they check for cats? Also, I'm probably going to be running a turn-down...will they bitch about no tail pipes?

I have HPtuners, so electronically, it'll pass with flying colors. But if they look under the car I'm fucked.

I brought my cammed ls1 with the exhaust dumped to the emissions place in Joliet. Guy never checked for cats, just commented on how loud it was.

put a magnaflow on her the guy will think its stock and slap on the sticker. Also as far as cats I will be posting a thread about my fake cats soon. I went to a local dodge dealership (friend parts manager) I got 2 bad cats from him small little boogers he thinks they came from a 300c any ways I got to work I hollowed them out and slid them over my ORY and tig welded them on looks legit added about 2lbs to my car still have straight pipes with a cat shell welded on.

i had my older car there than was cammmin like hell that ran 10s all day on motor and nope never checked and my buddy with a 9 sec street car brought his there too and they never checked both in bedford park...so u should be good they dont care just no ses light on and pass the gas cap bull ****.and or code readers u be good

you will be fine. i went to the one down elmhurst road...side pipe exhaust and a nitrous bottle on the trans tunnel and the guy didn't care...although he did take a second look at the back seat area lol.

last time I heard Illinois had not visual inspection, as long as you have no codes you pass, we just brought in a cackling LT1 in there, they didnt say anything.

I passed with my 1000 ++hp turbo camaro. As long as the check engine light is not on and all the monitors are set, you will be ok...

Yea...you'll be fine. I went over to the place by Harlem and Irving. The guy did comment on how loud it was, but all he did was plug it in and I was good to go.
