Byron Dragway, Thats how you treat a customer!!!!
.
Special thanks to everyone at Byron.
The whole crew treated us great, and even with the crappy weather busted their ***' to get us racing again!!!
Even with a small crowd, they had all the equipment running and spared no expense to get the track ready.
Even though it's a long *** tow, and kind of short, I would not hesitate going again.
It was also great to see Ron Leak there and working.
I had heard he was having health issues?? and I was surprised he was still around.
So again, to the whole crew, thanks and we had a great time even though we couldn't make it down the track.

Byron and Cordova are by far the two most racer friendly tracks in Illinois area. Some times the weather just does not cooperate, too much wind or light rain. We had the opertunity of going friday to GLD for real street drags,WHAT A WAIST OF TIME AND MONEY. I watched them prep the track. They turned the sprayer on past the 60 ft clocks going about 40 mph and then back even faster. Did not prep the starting line at all, just like on the street I guess!!!! I think the vht was cut at lest 50/50,when i asked if they were going to prep it the starter yelled at me for some $$$$$.

I tell you what, the weather sucked, the place was fairly empty, mostly street type cars,
and I still had my best 60' with this combo.
Being the fastest car, and very few other drag cars putting down rubber it shocked the hell out of me.
I thought for sure all the street tires were going to ruin it??
Yes, I never got it down the track, but it was 200' down track before I lost it,
so there was absolutely nothing wrong with the line or their prep!!
It was frigging windy as hell, cross wind of course!! and it rained all night so that made it even tougher.
I also had some big *** wheelies, and my car never does wheelies, even at RT 66.
I was actually supposed to go to Cordova on Sun. and my buddy that invited me couldn't go last minute,
wife wouldn't let him??
So we ended up going to Byron, because the Grove had a foreign car deal.

Exactly, and that's why we're going again Sun. even though I have rain checks
for Union Grove, and supposedly US 41 (I know what a joke).
I might have room if anyone wants a ride up to watch.
Leaving from RT 66 area, if the weather is nice??

Definitely hard to miss my old antique junk, but if you need anything, I have a big blue triple TAG, and I usually have a US Navy flag flying.
If I get stuck in a corner somewhere, just look for the flag.
I helped a couple of kids last week, and always glad to help.
Even signed 6 autographs. (license runs)

StangEaterSS- I live near Harvard but work in Loves Park; on nice weeks I drive the car to work 3-4 days. I did go to Hooters once this year. Yesterday was my first time at Byron so you may have seen another Hugger car like mine. I'm not sure if I remember your car; post up a pic for me....

Nice day mainly all around.
Fixed my electrical gremlin for the last pass, and the stupid car got in the marbles and I had to abort.
Always nice to BS, help & meet other racers.
I heard the track guy got some great photo's, now if I can just afford them,
because I want them all??
I'm hoping someone got some good video??
I gave out my email to a couple of guys and they said they would send some??
The only bad part was 2 weeks in a row with great weather I had issues??
All damn summer when it was hot & slow it ran right down the middle,
now is what we wait all year for the big power weather, so we can run some numbers!!
Nice meeting everyone, and my offer stands for next year, if anyone needs electricity, air, tools, etc.
I'm old and I believe in helping when I'm able!!!

Thanks, anyone that was there knows I was not exaggerating, I had my "HANDS FULL", all 3 runs.
Trust me, that wheelie caught me 100% by surprise.
The weather was definitely HP friendly that day.
Always a great feeling pulling into the shop after a long day of racing and nothing is broke isn't it??
Have a nice winter everyone, I highly doubt there will be any more W/E's safe to bring my car out.
I don't think there will be enough heat in the track to risk it??

Ditto, the crew made all the difference in the world.
I went to all 4 tracks this year, and had an issue at 3 of them.
41 has a lying POS running the place, 66 is rarely open and it takes all day to make 3 pass's if you're lucky,
Grove treated us great and the crew was nice & very friendly, but the pits were pretty bad, and the price was insane for a T & T.
I will definitely be back more often and show my appreciation to Byron as much as possible.
Hell the fellow racers were awesome, and very friendly.
2 weeks in a row I had issues and never made a full pass, but I never heard one bad word.
At 41 I had issues a couple of years ago, and some guys came up to the trailer and said quit wasting so much time, and holding everyone up??
Like I can help getting an electrical glitch?? but because I was making single runs, (only because I was worried about staying in my lane) they were pissed off.
Race safe everyone and for the record, Byron treated us amazing, and they definitely earned my appreciation.
