Anyone Purchased from American Muscle in Palatine?
I'm looking at some DD-type cars from American Muscle in Palatine, IL. I can find very few reviews and little feedback about them, so I turn to you, my fellow Midwesterners. Has anyone done business with them? Anyone bought a car from them? Anything I should look out for when checking out mid to late 60's El Caminos?

I didn't think they sold daily driver type cars there? I thought it was just antiques/classics/old stuff. None of those old cars are very good choices for a daily driver in Chicago weather.
I see their ads all the time on Craigslist when I'm doing my regular searches for old cars. I know a couple of local guys that have gone to look at cars there, but nobody that has bought one. I believe one of the guys at my regular weekend cruise spot has a friend that works there.

I have gone up and looked at a few of their cars in the past couple of years, in my opinion they were priced about 25-40% above what they were actually worth. Most of the cars they list are not even on the premises, you have to make an appointment to see them cause they are someones else car they are trying to sell for them. Lots of tire gloss and engine shine...

Much appreciated. I gathered the same sense with respect to prices looking at their site. Will approach well-researched and with caution. (Which I suppose I should always do, but ya know...extra well researched)

Other than buying a brand new car, I think any time you're dealing with a dealer it's a given that the price will be too high. They have to make a profit above and beyond a private seller in order to pay for the expenses of the business. If you can find something you like from a private seller, you'll generally always get more for your money that way. Of course, if you're looking for something very specific that's 40 years old, you might not have the luxury of being picky about where you find it.
